The Duke of Kent left hospital yesterday (TUE) after receiving treatment for a hip injury he sustained at the Queen’s Scottish holiday home.  The monarch’s cousin was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after suffering what was believed to be a dislocated hip at Balmoral Estate in Royal Deeside.

Buckingham Palace confirmed late on Monday night that the Duke had been admitted to the city hospital after getting injured on Saturday.  He left the hospital shortly after 12:30pm yesterday with the aid of a walking stick.

The Duke, who suffered a “mild” stroke in 2013, stopped to shake hands with medical staff as he made his way to the waiting Range Rover, which was expected to take him back to Balmoral.

The Duke regularly undertakes a number of official Royal engagements and is the president of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.  He inherited his title at the age of six from his father Prince George, who died in a flying accident in Caithness in 1942.
